Can we trust politicians who suddenly show interest in our community before elections?

Politicians are self-serving opportunists who exploit and discard people. Glorifying politics is misguided; politicians are unreliable, often betraying and harming their supporters. Reliance on them is idolatrous and compromises principles. Our sole reliance is HaKadosh Baruch Hu. Instead of politics, focus entirely on Teshuvah and helping others do Teshuvah, our only path to survival and salvation.
